After Graduation – Buddy

Parents and Siblings
Tatay and Nanay are staying in Cainta togethet with 3 of my siblings. 4 of us got married and 2 na lang ang single, my brother Zaldy who is 5th in the family and my sister Malou, the youngest. Malou is working with PAL and met Tes Mendoza before she retired.
Family
I got married to Lina, a Cavitena in 1989 in Cavite City and settled here since then. We were blessed with just one child, Reggie Anne, now a graduating student at Ateneo De Manila University taking Applied Math major in Finance. But she wants to continue for the Masteral Course kaya 2 years pa ang subsidy niya. Hopefully she can finish the Masters course by the year 2011.
Contract
I too paid 2 years of unserved obligation with NSDB totalling almost PHP 10,000.00. NBI won’t issue me a travel clearance for my initial flight training in Tokyo. OK lang otherwise walang asenso.
Teaching
After graduation, i was assigned as Math instructor sa P. Bernardo HS in Cubao, QC. I started teaching at the said school from June 1979 til March 1981.
2 yrs lang ako nagturo before joining PAF Flying School as Aviation Cadet Class 82.
After grad, i saw my kababata in a clean cut, macho look. He encouraged me to join PAF Flying School. Nakita ko yung yearbook nila kaya i got the interest to join. One more reason, he was the class #1. However after less than 5 years in the service, he migrated to Canada. After my first solo flight, I went on a short leave. As i was walking towards the barracks to report for duty, i met Arnel Medroso outside an office in the camp. That’s when he told me he’s joining the next class.
Flying School
March 16, 1981, I joined Philippine Air Force Flying School as Aviation Cadet and graduated Oct 16 the following year. Arnel Medroso also joined PAFFS in 1982 as my direct underclass and became a member of Class 83. Both of us were assigned in Sangley Air Base, Cavite City on separate units. He joined my unit, 15th Strike Wing, after the 1986 EDSA Revolution and was assigned as Combat Helicopter pilot. A few years later, Arnel died in the heli crash in Zamboanga City during a training flight. No one survived.
Flying Career
I left the Air Force in April 1996 and became commercial pilot with Air Philippines as co-pilot.YS-11A and Boeing 737-200. I became CAPTAIN of B737-200 in 1999. I left Air Philippines in 2003 and worked as an expat pilot with Air Asia the following year. After my training as CAPT B737-300 in Kuala Lumpur, Air Asia assigned me in Bangkok, Thailand to fly with a subsidiary company, THAI AIR ASIA. Last year around Sept 2008, I accepted the offer Spirit of Manila Airlines to be the Chief Pilot B737-300. Now i’m home with the same company but based in Clark, Pampanga.
